Are you interested in developing your child for important skills such as computational thinking, algorithmic logic, problem-solving skills, and also how to express their creativity?
Scratch, a coding application provides all these skills and more. Also, see the poster below.
A little background of the Theresa Ely-Felino (Instructor/Facilitator):
- Have been teaching Scratch since 2015
- Traveled across Africa teaching coding to Teachers in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Malawi, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Zambia, Angola, and Botswana
- Experience in working with youth of all ages
Why kids should learn how to code:
It is so important for kids to learn 21st-century skills. Learning how to code and understanding the concept of coding at a young age will help prepare kids for future studies and coding, which will open doors to a successful future for our kids.
Benefits of learning to code:
- Learning to code can help kids do better in other subjects that they are learning at school.
- In coding kids learn to break down a problem into smaller steps and they learn to use a language that the computer understands to logically create a working program.
- Kids develop important skills such as computational thinking, algorithmic logic, problem-solving skills, and also how to express their creativity.
- Coding instills persistence in kids
In our course, kids will learn about the 4 different areas of computational thinking:
- Decomposition
- Pattern Recognition
- Abstraction
- Algorithm Design
